Most fun paint and sips in Amsterdam

Paint n sip

What makes a good paint and sip?

Before we dive into the list, let’s talk about what makes a good paint and sip. As you can already distinguish from the name there are two main things that are crucial, the painting and the wine. At a good paint and sip you want there to be a professional art instructor that can help with your painting. You also want there to be both good and sufficient wine, nothing sparks the creativity as much as a good glass of white or red.

However, those are not the only things important to a sip and paint. There are plenty of other factors which we took into consideration putting together this ranking: Fun, music, affordability and special extra’s.

Now, on to the list!

1. Rembrandt van Wine

Rembrandt van Wine - Painting in the dark

Rembrandt van Wine is a special paint and sip in Amsterdam because the whole event takes place in the dark. This intimate atmosphere doesn’t take away from the actual painting experience. You can easily see what you paint, using a mix of normal acrylic paint neon paint that pops right off the canvas with the black lights turned on.

There is both an art instructor and a host present. The art instructor talks you through the techniques needed for the painting of the day and walks around for 1-on-1 advice. The host takes care that everyone has a good time and a filled glass (all drinks are on the house).

Rembrandt van Wine is priced at just 38,50 per person including everything (yes, even the drinks). The independent jury over at hobbyschilders.nl named Rembrandt van Wine the number 1 paint and sip experience in Amsterdam (article in Dutch).

  • Pricing: 39,50 (including all drinks)
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Group size: 15-25
  • Art instructor: Yes + a host present
  • Language: English + Dutch
  • Private event option: Yes.

2. Paint & Sip NL

Paint & sip nl - paint and sip amsterdam

Paint & Sip NL organizes private drink and paints for groups larger than 10 people. If you decide to join one of their events you will be converted into an artist for a day under the direct guidance of an art instructor.

Unfortunately you can’t buy a single or double ticket for a paint and sip event, they only organize private events for groups.

  • Pricing: On request
  • Duration: On request
  • Group size: Starting at 10
  • Art instructor: Yes
  • Language: English + Dutch

3. Artparty

artparty sip and paint

Artparty hosts their paint & sips at a variety of different cafes throughout Amsterdam. Whilst is it nice that you can order some food, it does also mean that you need to pay for your drinks on top of the original ticket price.

That aside, their 2-hour paint and drink workshops are a great place for getting creative. They provide you with all the material and strongly encourage you to be proud of your creation and take it home with you afterwards.

  • Pricing: 46,13 (including 1 drink)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Group size: Starting at 10
  • Art instructor: Yes
  • Language: English + Dutch

4. Neon brush

neon brush amsterdam

An honorable mention to the newest addition to the list, Neon Brush. As you probably understood by reading the name this paint and sip is similar to Rembrandt van Wine because it is held entirely in the dark.

There are also some differences between the two though, they host their paint and drinks at an external location, offer only 1 free drink, and have slightly larger groups attend the events at once.

  • Pricing: 42,- (including 1 drink)
  • Duration: 1,5 hours
  • Group size: 30-40
  • Art instructor: No
  • Language: English

5. Art Studio Amsterdam

Art studio amsterdam

Art studio Amsterdam is one that we really like, because next to hosting paint and sips for adults, they also organize special events for children. The sip and paints for adults are rather typical, there is an art instructor explaining you the basics of painting while you are having a good glass of wine or organic tea (that is not so typical).

Next to booking an individual session you can also book a series of classes to fully master your painting further.

  • Pricing: 40,- (including 1 wine / tea)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Group size: 15-20
  • Art instructor: Yes
  • Language: English
