1. Paint & Sip in the Dark
Looking for a teambuilding truly out of the box? Step into a darkened studio lit with blacklight, grab a drink, and let neon colours guide your creativity. Even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before, you’ll be surprised at what you can create with just the right instructions from the professional art instructors on-site.
Everyone gets a canvas, brushes, and step-by-step guidance from an experienced art instructor while enjoying wine, or soft drinks on the house. A true artist is typically born only with a good glass of wine in it's hand. You ever saw Rembrandt sober? Me neither!
Teams under 6 can join one of the public workshops . Groups of 6+ can book a private workshop in the atelier, having it all to yourself, playing your own music, creating your own paint party!
Book a private paint & sip with us!
- 2 hour painting event with art instructor
- Use normal and glow-in-the-dark paint
- Enjoy your favourite music and all drinks on the house
2. Harbour boat challenge
Rotterdam’s harbour is the biggest in Europe, and during this team activity it’s your playground. Hop aboard, split into teams, and take on mini challenges as you sail past cargo ships, cranes, and skyline views that make you feel like you’re in a movie. One minute you’re navigating clues, the next you’re solving riddles with the wind in your hair and the smell of adventure (or diesel) in the air. It’s a teambuilding activity in Rotterdam that mixes sightseeing, strategy, and a little bit of chaos on the water.
Keep an eye on the weather though, this activity is best in the summer for obvious reasons.
3. Cooking workshop in Fenix Food Factory
The ultimate foodie playground for your next team outing. Here, your team swaps laptops for ladles and gets hands-on in a lively group cooking session surrounded by flavours and a buzzing atmosphere. You’ll chop, stir, and taste your way through the challenge while learning that leadership is great, but sharing snacks is better. It’s the kind of teambuilding activity in Rotterdam that ends with full bellies, happy faces, and maybe a new office tradition.
4. Rooftop tour & challenge
Rotterdam’s skyline isn’t just for admiring, it’s for conquering. Head up to some of the city’s boldest rooftops for panoramic views, creative photo challenges, and adrenaline-fueled teamwork tasks. Maybe you’re building a tower from random objects, maybe you’re reenacting your favorite movie scene 50 meters above ground, who knows. One thing’s certain: this teambuilding activity in Rotterdam will take your collaboration skills to new heights (literally).
5. Silent disco walking tour
Forget boring city tours, this one comes with a soundtrack. Pop on your glowing headphones, pick your playlist, and dance your way along the Maas River with your team in tow.
Everyone is jamming out to the same tunes, while the DJ x Guide informs you about the most funky details along the way. It’s a teambuilding activity in Rotterdam that’s equal parts sightseeing, silliness, and serotonin. Warning: Bystanders will stare (and want to join).
6. The mini architecture challenge
Rotterdam is basically one giant playground for architects, so why not join the fun? Your team gets a bunch of odd materials (cardboard, tape, straws, etc.) and 45 minutes to recreate one of the city’s iconic buildings. Cube Houses, Erasmus Bridge, Depot Boijmans — take your pick. The results are part art, part disaster, and completely hilarious. Bonus points if any tower actually stands upright for more than 10 seconds.
7. Escape the SS rotterdam
You’ve heard of escape rooms, now try escaping a whole ship. The legendary SS Rotterdam, once an ocean liner, now hides puzzles, clues, and hidden rooms waiting for your team to crack them.
Yup, escape rooms are not super original in itself, but this escape room in particular definitely is. Really, I enjoyed this escape room so much that I am now writing about it to convince you to go!
Think teamwork, tension, and that one colleague who always insists they “know the code” but never does. Easily one of the most fun teambuilding activities in Rotterdam.
8. The secret bar hunt
This one’s for the curious (and the thirsty). Split into teams and follow cryptic clues across the city to discover which bar to have your next drink at, and then the quest continues.
You can decide the length of this team building yourself, as the number of bars you want to visit. Spice up the fun by adding a little mini task in each bar you visit, like mixing a drink blindfolded or inventing a ridiculous toast to the team. You’ll laugh, explore, and maybe end the night dancing somewhere you never expected.
9. Architecture photo challenge
Once again, Rotterdam is world-famous for its modern architecture. But how much attention do you really give to the city's iconic buildings while biking, walking or driving past?
Too little? Then this one is for you! Split into small groups, give each team a camera (or smartphone), and a list of architectural icons to capture – from the Cube Houses to De Rotterdam.
Print the pictures out and present them to each other in an artsy gallery-setting to double the fun!
10. Urban garden challenge
Rotterdam loves to turn the unexpected green — rooftops, old trams, even floating platforms. In this teambuilding activity, your crew becomes a squad of city gardeners on a mission to design and plant a mini urban oasis. Armed with soil, seeds, and way too much enthusiasm, you’ll race to build the most creative (and sustainable) garden corner on the terrain of your own office.
Some teams go full zen, others grow chaos — but everyone ends up a little prouder and a lot dirtier. And, bonus, you get to leave a small patch of green behind near your office, proof that your teamwork actually blossomed.
11. Improv comedy workshop
Rotterdam is known for its bold architecture, but today, your team’s building punchlines instead.
In this comedy & improv workshop, a professional comedian takes your crew through a series of hilarious games and quick-thinking challenges. You’ll learn to listen, react, and roll with the unexpected (skills that secretly work wonders back at the office).
Expect awkward pauses, surprising brilliance, and unstoppable laughter. It’s one of those teambuilding activities in Rotterdam that leaves everyone lighter, looser, and maybe a little addicted to bad puns.
Teambuilding Rotterdam final thoughts
Rotterdam is the perfect playground for creative teams that like their teambuilding with a twist. From painting in the dark to gardening, the city has endless ways to get everyone laughing, bonding, and thinking outside the office box.
So next time you’re planning a team day, ditch the dull trust falls and try something bold, creative, and uniquely Rotterdam.
